
The Department of Health is seeking to appoint 2 Council Members, ( 1 x Lay, and 1 Registrant – including a President) to the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland is an independent public body, accountable to the NI Assembly. The PSNI regulates 2,800 pharmacists and 550 pharmacy premises across Northern Ireland. First established in 1925, fundamentally their primary role is to protect patients and the general public by maintaining a register of qualified pharmacists, accrediting their training and education, setting and promoting standards of practice and dealing with fitness-to-practice issues that can arise from time to time for individual pharmacists. They also facilitate leadership within the pharmacy profession though the Pharmacy Forum NI which is led by a Board elected by registered pharmacists.
The PSNI will have 2 vacancies on its Council arising later this year – 1 Lay Member and 1 Registrant Member. It is intended to assign the role of President to one of these Member appointments.
Applicants for these positions must on their application form, and if invited for interview, must meet the following essential criteria: Strategic Thinking; Corporate Governance and Accountability, Performance Management, Collaborative Working, and if applying for the President role: Leadership.
