The Council of the Pharmaceutical Society NI received and noted the June 2021 Registration Assessment report at its meeting on 16 September 2021.
A total of 136 candidates sat the Registration Assessment on 08 June 2021 with 124 candidates passing the assessment; an overall pass rate of 91.18% which was in line with previous years
This year’s assessment used the new Common Registration Assessment format agreed with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) although not as an online assessment as had been hoped due to circumstances beyond our control.
The June Registration Assessment, with the assistance of candidates, our educational partners and Pharmaceutical Society NI staff, was successfully held in a safe, socially distanced manner complying with local COVID-19 restrictions.
The successful holding of the June assessment allowed the Pharmaceutical Society NI to ensure that, on completing their training from mid-July 2021, the 124 successful candidates were able to join the Register and practise as qualified pharmacists.
Welcoming these new pharmacists onto the Register of the Pharmaceutical Society NI, Dr Jim Livingstone, President of the Pharmaceutical Society NI, commented:
“The Council wishes to congratulate all those involved in making this year’s assessment a success. The candidates, our educational partners, tutors and Pharmaceutical Society NI staff all played a vital part to ensure that the Northern Ireland Registration Assessment in the new common registration assessment format was able to take place successfully during the ongoing pandemic in June, in a safe, socially distanced manner.
“The Council also wishes to acknowledge the efforts of successful candidates and Pharmaceutical Society NI staff to ensure that these new pharmacists were successfully registered from July during the ongoing COVID -19 restrictions and are now able to practise as qualified pharmacists who can supply high standards of patient care in Northern Ireland during the current pandemic”.
The Pharmaceutical Society NI is also pleased to confirm that the Common Registration Assessment, in collaboration with the GPhC, will be held on Tuesday, 16 November 2021.
Further information about the Autumn 2021 Common Registration Assessment is available on our website.”
