Following Saturday’s appalling attack which left Conor McAreavey, a Belfast Pharmacist injured, Doctor Jim Livingstone, the President of the Council of the Pharmaceutical Council of Northern Ireland stated:
“Like every member of our community, I am disgusted by this vicious attack on a pharmacist who was providing vital health care to his community. I wish Conor a swift recovery.
“Pharmacists across Northern Ireland are playing an increasingly vital role in ensuring that all our community have access to health care and advice and we all must support them in this role.
“Pharmacists and their teams must be able to work free from violence and abuse. Any attack on the pharmacy team impacts on the access to health care for the most vulnerable in our community who rely on this vital service.
“I would reiterate the call by the Police for anyone who witnessed anything to contact them or Crimestoppers.”
