The Council of the Pharmaceutical Society NI has launched an eight week consultation on draft Premises Standards, closing at 12 noon on Monday 27 November 2017. In preparation for commencement of new legislation, the Pharmaceutical Society NI is proposing changes to the Standards that must be met in all registered pharmacy premises in Northern Ireland.
Speaking about the consultation Mark Neale Head of Public Affairs said:
“Tens of thousands of people in Northern Ireland enter pharmacies each day. With the expansion of pharmacy roles and changes to the way in which pharmacy services are being operated, our proposed Premises Standards aim to provide further assurance to patients and the public that when they enter a pharmacy their safety is paramount.
The proposed new Standards mark a shift towards simplified and less prescriptive Standards with a clear focus on the outcomes for patients.
To ensure that we get our proposals right, we are very keen to receive feedback from service users, the public and pharmacists”.
