Process of Registration
The Process to join the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists in Northern Ireland.
As Pre-Registration Trainee
Applicants are required to
- Have completed at least 52 weeks pre-registration training in a pharmacy registered for pre-reg. training in Northern Ireland.
- Submit 4 quarterly assessments and performance standards signed off by their tutor
- Pass registration examination
- Submit 52nd week declaration indication suitability to register signed by tutor
- Complete and submit a registration pack (including a health declaration to be certified by a UK registered doctor, solicitor certified copies of birth and where relevant marriage certificates ).
- Pay new applicant fee and registration fee before they are due to be registered

As a GB Registrant (pharmacist who has first been registered with the RPSGB).
Applicants are required to
- Complete and submit a reciprocal registration pack (including a health declaration to be certified by a UK registered doctor, solicitor certified copies of birth and where relevant marriage certificates and a certified passport sized photograph).
- Apply for a European Certificate of Current Professional Status to be submitted directly from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
- Complete an application form
- Attend an interview with the Registrar to which they must bring original qualification certificate, registration certificate and photographic ID.
- Pay a new applicant and registration fee before their name will appear on the register

As an EEA Registrant (pharmacist who has first been registered within the European Economic Area).
Applicants are required to
- Complete and submit an EEA registration pack
- Complete and submit a health declaration certified by a UK registered doctor or equivalent within Europe - accompanied by a translation certified by a registered translator.
- Submit a certified copy of birth and where relevant marriage certificates -accompanied by a translation certified by a registered translator.
- Submit a certified a copy of license to practice/registration certificate -accompanied by a translation certified by a registered translator.
- Submit a certified copy of passport
- Confirmation letter of compliance with EU directive from competent authority- accompanied by a translation certified by a registered translator.
- Submit a recent passport photograph certified by the appropriate official
- Apply for European certificates of current professional status from any regulatory body currently or previously registered with to be submitted directly by the regulatory body - accompanied by a translation certified by a registered translator
- Complete application form
- Attend an interview with the Registrar - to this the applicant must bring their current passport
- Pay a new applicant fee and registration fee before their name will appear on the register

To be restored to the register
If you had withdrawn voluntarily from the register by submitting written notification to the Society to be restored to the register, you must
- Complete a restoration form
- Pay restoration fee of £121 and current registration fee
- Apply for a European Certificate of Current Professional Status to be submitted directly from any regulatory body registered with in the interim, which must be submitted directly from them.
Where the pharmacist has been absent from the register for a period exceeding 12 months any return to the register may require an interview with the registrar before any reinstatement.
If you were removed by council and therefore notified of this by the Society in writing, to be restored to the register, you must
- Complete a restoration form
- Pay restoration fee of £500 and current registration fee
- Apply for a European Certificate of Current Professional Status to be submitted directly from any regulatory body registered with in the interim, which must be submitted directly from them.

Restoration if you were removed by the Statutory Committee
If you were removed by the Statutory Committee, to be restored to the register, you must
- Make a written application to the secretary of the Statutory Committee
- Submit two certificates attesting to applicants identity and good character
- Provide detailed evidence demonstrating applicants fitness to practise

Registration Appeals
Where a determination has been made by the Registrar not to register an applicant, an appeal to this decision may be made to the Council of the Society.
Any appeal should normally be made within 28 days of the Registrar's decision.
To make an appeal against a decision not to register, the applicant must notify the Director of the Society, in writing, outlining the basis for appeal. The Director will then formally notify the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of this appeal and this issue will be considered the next scheduled Council meeting. This will be listed as an item of business on the agenda for the meeting
