Consultation on Benevolent Fund

The Benevolent Fund is in the process of consulting with all pharmacists regarding the services which they feel should be provided by the Benevolent Fund in the future.  This is an opportunity for pharmacists to have their say regarding what services would be of most value to them and their dependents, should the need arise for them to contact the Fund.

I would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire that you have been sent (or print another from the Benevolent Fund section of the web site) and return it to me at 73 University Street, by Friday 2nd October.

 Thank you

 Susan Taylor, Benevolent Fund Manager

Consultation on standards for Community Pharmacy premises

The Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland is the statutory regulator of the pharmacy profession in Northern Ireland and thereby has a responsibility to ensure the delivery of safe, effective and high quality pharmacy services which will benefit the health and well-being of patients and public.

Pharmaceutical services must be provided in a safe and secure environment in accordance with all legal and professional obligations and present an image which enhances the pharmacy and the profession.

This document on premises standards can be used as a practical tool to assist in self-audit of pharmacy practice, and indicate areas needing attention. It will assist those operating registered pharmacy premises to ensure that the environment in which pharmacy services are provided, is appropriate and safe and that all pharmacists and staff working within those premises are aware of their responsibility and accountability in adhering to these standards.

These standards, once accepted, will be used by the DHSSPS Pharmaceutical Inspectorate as a tool to inspect registered pharmacy premises.

This document on premises standards is being distributed to all community pharmacists and relevant stakeholders as part of a consultation exercise.

The consultation opens Monday 23 March and closes at 12 noon Monday 4 May 2009.  It is in your interest to respond to this consultation as early as possible.
