The 1st October 2012 marked a “New Era” of pharmacy regulation within Northern Ireland. The Pharmacy (NI) Order 1976 (Amendment) Order (NI) 2012 modernised the structures, powers and activities of the Pharmaceutical Society NI, including the creation of an appointed Council of seven lay members and seven registrant members. As a modern regulator, a focus on patient safety is fundamental to the delivery of our services.
To this end, it is our honour as the President and Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland to present “A New Era 2013-2016”. The strategic road map, for the regulator of pharmacy, has been the culmination of many hours of analysis, thought and planning by the Council, ably assisted by our Senior Management Team. Whilst we face many challenges, we have every confidence in our ability to successfully achieve those key objectives and targets set out within the strategy.
