STATUTORY COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING

The Statutory Committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of NI will meet on 15th September 2016 at 09.30am to consider allegations of impairment in relation to the Registrant, Mr Conor Martin Steele, registration number 5314.

 

Summary of allegations of impairment:

  1. On 26 January 2016 he accepted and received a caution for the offence of theft contrary to Section 1 of the Theft Act (Northern Ireland) 1969. This caution was administered by a police officer acting on behalf of the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
  2. By agreeing to and then receiving a caution for theft, his conduct on 18th January 2016 was necessarily dishonest.
  3. By his acts and/or omissions he has created a risk to the reputation of, and public confidence in, the Pharmacy profession.
  4. The Society further alleges that the Registrant is in breach of selected principles and obligations of the Code of Ethics 2009 by reason of the impairment particularised above.

Summary of allegations of impairment:
  • She pleaded guilty to and was convicted of theft from pharmacy premises
  • She breached four principles of the Code of Ethics of the Pharmaceutical Society of NI

STATUTORY COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING

The Statutory Committee of the Pharmaceutical Society of NI will meet on 16th and 17th September 2015 at 09.30am to consider allegations of impairment in relation to the Registrant, Mr Maurice Oliver Currie, registration number 2674.

 

Summary of allegation of impairment:

 

  • He pleaded guilty to and was convicted of 12 offences relating to the supply of drugs without a prescription contrary to the Human Medicines Regulations 2012, to the unlawful supply in contravention of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and to the retail sale of a prescription only medicine in contravention of the Medicines Act 1968.
  • Misconduct due to the fact that:

–  He failed to properly complete and maintain a controlled drug register;

–  He failed to mark on prescriptions the date on which the drug was supplied;

–  He failed to properly or promptly cooperate with the Medicines Regulatory Group investigations or to properly respond to or act upon the written advice of a Pharmacy Inspector;

–  He reportedly destroyed Schedule 2 controlled drugs other than in the presence of an authorised person;

–  He ordered quantities of drugs in an attempt to conceal wrongful diversion and frustrate the Medicines Regulatory Group investigations;

–  He breached four principles of the Code of Ethics of the Pharmaceutical Society of NI.
