Trevor Patterson
Chief Executive
Trevor is the Chief Executive of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland and is responsible to Council for all staff matters.
He is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the organisation's business plan, leading the modernisation process and acting as liaison officer between the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland and other health professional regulators.
Brendan Kerr
Registrar & Head of Professional Services
Brendan is the Registrar & Head of Professional Services. He qualified as a pharmacist in 1982 and has worked in Community pharmacy for the last twenty years, most recently for Gordon's Chemist in Ballynahinch. Until his appointment he was a member of Council from 1996 and was Chair of the Practice and Education Committees. He was President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland 2005-2006.
Mark Neale
Head of Public Affairs
Mark Neale joined the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland in November 2007 as Head of Public Affairs. Coming from a political and business background, Mark brings a range of skills in lobbying and public affairs based on his experience working at the Northern Ireland Assembly. Mark's role is to represent the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland at all levels, interacting with the Northern Ireland Assembly and Government, with the public and media, and leading the organisation's interaction with registrants and the public.
Dr. Deirdre McAree
Post-Registration Facilitator
Dr. McAree is the post-registration facilitator. The focus of her current role is Education
with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) being part of her remit.
Dr. McAree is supported by a network of CPD facilitators and assessors and is available
to provide support to all Northern Ireland registered pharmacists. In addition,
Dr. McAree is also involved in MPharm degree accreditation and other educational initiatives affecting Northern Ireland registered pharmacists from all spheres of practice, such as the development of revalidation proposals. She qualified as a pharmacist in 1990 and has experience as a community pharmacist in both independent and multiple sectors. Previously Deirdre completed her PhD whilst Teacher Practitioner at the School of Pharmacy, Queen's University Belfast. She has significant experience of teaching professional subjects at undergraduate, pre-registration and post-registration levels.
Richard Price
Policy Advisor
Richard assists the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland in the development and articulation of policies to address pharmacy issues in Northern Ireland and supports the Head of Public Affairs in stakeholder communications. He plays a lead role in a range of Government-facing activity including awareness of, and responses to, policy initiatives emanating from Stormont, Westminster and Brussels. Richard also develops and conducts communication activities from the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland to the public and the pharmacy profession.
Lisa Smith
Pre-Registration Facilitator
Lisa qualified as a pharmacist in 1994 and worked as a hospital pharmacist prior to joining the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland in September 2008. Lisa holds a MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and a City and Guilds 7306 Teaching Certificate.
She is responsible for the management and development of the pre-registration programme and provides support to pre-registration trainees and tutors alike.
Susan Taylor
Benevolent Fund Manager
The Benevolent Fund exists to assist practising pharmacists and their families, retired pharmacists and their dependents and the spouses of pharmacists, who may benefit from additional information, advice, or assistance
Susan has a social work background, having qualified as a social worker in 1982. She worked within social services for many years and more recently Susan has worked in a number of different voluntary organisations, working with older people and people with disabilities as well as families and children. Susan strives to ensure that everyone receives the assistance they require in order to live as independently as possible.
